EAZK hosted the ECOEMPOWER project meeting in Zlín
On 10–11 February 2026, our agency successfully hosted a project meeting of the international ECOEMPOWER project, which supports the creation and strengthening of local energy communities and One-Stop Shops (OSS) within the European Union. Representatives of the project consortium attended the meeting, bringing together 10 partners from six European countries — Italy, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Greece and Belgium.
The meeting enabled the exchange of experience and coordination across work packages focused both on the technical aspects of OSS services and on ensuring their long-term sustainability. Discussions covered the project’s key performance indicators (KPIs), the policy framework, and public engagement, aiming to maximise the impact of support for energy communities even after the project ends.
One of the key moments was a visit to the partner company BTH Slavičín Ltd., where specific examples of solutions and infrastructure were presented during a study tour, serving as inspiration for the development of regional energy communities. The company operates a central heat source for the town of Slavičín, supplying two housing estates and currently preparing the connection of additional buildings. For its own consumption, it has installed a 135 kWp photovoltaic power plant and a battery storage system with a usable capacity of 135 kWh. It also utilises waste heat from the boiler house through a heat pump system. In addition, 37 air-to-water heat pumps with a total input capacity of 592 kW provide domestic hot water heating during the summer months, eliminating the need to burn wood chips in 2 MW and 1 MW boilers.
